FAG axlebox bearings are composed of railway housings and rolling bearings and are safety-related components in rail vehicles. FAG axlebox bearing seats are made of cast material and designed to customer specifications. All railway housings are calculated by the finite element method, stress optimized and designed according to specified limit values. The rolling bearings used in FAG axlebox bearing applications are WJ/WJP cylindrical roller bearings, complete FAG cylindrical roller bearing units and FAG TAROL tapered roller bearing units. TAROL and FAG cylindrical roller bearing units are ready-to-install units, lubricated and sealed at the factory. FAG TAROL S tapered roller bearings are of X-life quality, feature integrated seals, have low friction torque and are particularly suitable for long-term operation. FAG axlebox bearings are designed for high mileage and long maintenance intervals. Lubrication and sealing depend on the application and actual climatic conditions. Bearings are manufactured to EN12080 specifications. Performance testing is carried out in accordance with EN12082 to ensure that axlebox bearings are suitable for their intended application. The product range is also complemented by mechatronic components for condition monitoring.

Locomotive axlebox bearings are characterized by particularly high load ratings. For safety reasons, bearings used in high-speed transport applications are made of steel, which has special requirements on the purity of the material. The bearings are equipped with non-contact seals, allowing them to operate at low temperatures, and also use special high-speed grease. Local passenger trains must brake every few minutes, which poses special challenges for the grease. In contrast, bearings used in long-distance passenger transport are designed for higher speeds. The low-floor design of some trams means that bogies cannot be used, so low-floor axles with separate bearing supports are used instead. The low-floor design of some trams means that bogies cannot be used, so low-floor axles with separate bearings are used instead. Supported low floor axles.

FAG insert hub units have proven themselves in numerous applications. FAG tapered roller bearing pairs are set at the factory. After installation, the bearing seat has no clearance, good operating characteristics, long service life and long maintenance intervals.

Schber is FAG’s largest supplier in the country and has a large inventory of FAG railway axlebox bearings.
