The GE B23-7 is a diesel locomotive model first introduced by General Electric (GE) in late 1977. Powered by a 12-cylinder version of the FDL-series engine, it served as the successor to GE’s earlier U23B model (produced from early 1968 to mid-1977). The B23-7 measures 62 feet 2 inches (18.95 meters) in total length—two feet (0.61 meters) longer than the U23B.

This model competed against the highly successful EMD GP38-2. General Electric also produced a variant known as the BQ23-7 for the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad (numbered 5130–5139). A total of 536 B23-7 units were manufactured and delivered to 11 different customers across the United States and Mexico (nine in the U.S. and two in Mexico).
